This morning, we will board our deluxe motorcoach and set out on an exciting adventure to explore America’s rich history. As the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, there’s no better time to explore the stories, landmarks, and legacies that define our country. Today’s travels will take us to Schaumburg, IL, where we will check into our hotel and gather for a lively welcome dinner to kick off this exciting adventure.
Day 2: MONDAY, APRIL 20 (B,L) TOLEDO, OH
Fuel up for the day with our hotel’s breakfast before we board the motorcoach for the day’s drive. Our first stop will be in Shipshewana for a group lunch before visiting Menno-Hof. This interactive museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, beliefs, and way of life of the Amish and Mennonite communities. Through engaging exhibits, historical reenactments, and multimedia presentations, we will explore the Anabaptist faith, its European origins, and its migration to the United States. Our day concludes in Toledo, OH, where we will check into our hotel, leaving the remainder of the evening free for you to relax and enjoy dinner on your own.
DAY 3: TUESDAY, APRIL 21 (B,L) SOMERSET, PA
After breakfast, we set off for Pittsburgh, PA, where a visit to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens promises a breathtaking experience of lush gardens, stunning glasshouse displays, and immersive exhibits. Before we depart, you will have time to enjoy lunch on your own. As the day winds down, we arrive in Somerset, PA, to settle into our overnight accommodations, leaving you the evening free to relax and have dinner at your leisure.
Day 4: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22 (B,L,D) WASHINGSTON, DC
Today, we set off for the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial. The memorial’s ninety-three-foot-tall Tower of Voices, with its forty wind chimes, serves as a poignant reminder of the heroism of the forty passengers and crew aboard the flight. After a satisfying lunch, we continue our journey toward Washington, D.C.—arriving at the heart of the nation as it marks a momentous 250th anniversary in its history! This
milestone adds special significance to our time in the capital, beginning with a visit to The National Cathedral. Formally known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, this magnificent Episcopal church is renowned for its stunning Gothic architecture, intricate stained-glass windows, and historical significance in hosting presidential funerals and national services. After our tour, we will check into the Hyatt Place – White House for a relaxing three-night stay before coming together for a group dinner.
DAY 5: THURSDAY, APRIL 23 (B) WASHINGTON, DC
We will begin our first full day in our nation’s capital with breakfast, followed by a tour of the significant memorials, including the Washington Monument, the Jefferson and FDR memorials, and the especially poignant Vietnam, Korean, and Lincoln memorials. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the vast array of Smithsonian Museums that Washington, D.C., offers. These museums comprise the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, including iconic institutions such as the National Museum of American History, the National Air and Space Museum, and the National Museum of Natural History, among many others.
DAY 6: FRIDAY, APRIL 24 (B,L) WAHSINGTON, DC
This morning, we begin with a visit to the historic Mount Vernon, the elegant plantation home of George Washington, perched on the scenic banks of the Potomac River in Virginia. As we explore this remarkable estate, now a museum, we’ll delve into the life and leadership of America’s first president through guided home tours and fascinating exhibits, offering a glimpse into his legacy during one of the most challenging periods in history. Afterward, you’ll have some time to enjoy lunch at the estate. Next, we embark on a public tram tour through Arlington National Cemetery, one of America’s most revered sites. As we pay our respects to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the graves of President John F. Kennedy and other influential figures, we’ll gain a deeper understanding of the
cemetery’s rich history and profound significance. The day ends with free time to unwind and explore at your own pace.
DAY 7: SATURDAY, APRIL 25 (B,D) HAGERSTOWN, MD
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off for an unforgettable visit to the iconic U.S. Capitol Building, the heart of American democracy. With its awe-inspiring dome and grand neoclassical architecture, this historic landmark offers an incredible opportunity to explore the Crypt, the Rotunda, and the National Statuary Hall (subject to availability), each brimming with stories of our nation’s past. After soaking in the grandeur of the Capitol, you’ll have some free time to grab lunch before we continue our journey to Hagerstown, MD. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel, where you can unwind before gathering for a delightful group dinner.
DAY 8: SUNDAY, APRIL 26 (B,L) CLEVELAND, OH
This morning, we embark on a compelling journey through one of the most significant battles of the Civil War with a tour of the Antietam National Battlefield. Our expert guide will lead us to key locations such as the Dunker Church, Bloody Lane, Burnside Bridge, and the Antietam National Cemetery, offering a deep dive into the battle’s events, the soldiers’ experiences, and the profound impact of the bloodiest single-day battle in American history. After a reflective group lunch, we will continue our journey north to Cleveland, OH for the night. Upon arrival, you’ll have the evening free to relax, refresh, and enjoy dinner at your leisure.
DAY 9: MONDAY, APRIL 27 (B,D) SOUTHBEND, IN
Following breakfast, we’ll kick off the day with an exciting visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where we’ll take a thrilling journey through the history of music. As you enter the iconic glass pyramid, you’ll be greeted by legendary artifacts, including Elvis Presley’s jumpsuits and Jimi Hendrix’s guitars. The Hall of Fame Inductees Gallery showcases the most renowned names in music, while themed exhibits transport you to different eras and genres. After some free time for lunch, we’ll continue our travels to South Bend, IN. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into our hotel and come together for a delicious farewell dinner.
DAY 10: TUESDAY, APRIL 28 (B) HOME
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before we depart on the last leg of our journey home.
